Spent some time today doing stone cutting....

Raw rubies (not ruby crystals)

Raw rubies shaped and polished for
free form jewelry. These buggers are nearly as hard
as diamond..... a real bear to do anything with.

More free form stones for wire jewelry.

Slabs for cabachons, and another free form
for a necklace.

Quartz crystal geodes sliced, with polished edges.
Each is a few inches across, and once the the rind
is ground off they are delicate as eggs. Several just
shattered as I sliced them.

I am so envious of your adventures as you unearth the beauty from these surly rinds. They are just gorgeous.
