Stone work this afternoon

Work at school went swimmingly today. We got all our construction painted with Primer.... and ready to go with final painting tomorrow.

After coming home, I started with stones again. Just can't seem to stay away..... This time I was slicing some thin slabs for a special project.

The slabs are intended for display in wooden stands, with a candle behind them. These slices of geode have a crystal center, and I've polished them till the light shines through nicely.

With a candle lit behind the slab, the crystalline structures shatters the light and sends it rebounding in a beautiful pattern.

The slab pictured is just under the largest size I'll get from this geode, which is about the largest geode I have to work with. Larger would be nice, but the quality of this stone is excellent.

I lucked out, really, as I have no idea what is inside one of these things till I slice it open.

For this project I'll make nice wooden stands from fine grained hardwood. I haven't decided between Birdseye Maple or Walnut.
