Proof... malls are evil

Ok, so this opinion piece by John Lott regarding the dangers
of 'gun free zones' does not exactly say malls are evil.

But.... I'm looking for anything that backs up that belief of mine.
Since I won't go to a mall unarmed, this must be why.

Instead of an example of the dangers of firearms which I'm sure every anti-gun person is jumping up and down about, the Omaha Mall tragedy really serves as another failure of so-called "gun-free zones" a law so disastrous in it's outcomes that I think it's one of the worst legislative atrocities foisted upon this nation by the anti-gun crowd.

These are the same people who have campaigned tirelessly in state after state against sensible concealed carry laws, feverishly working to keep honest citizens at a distinct disadvantage versus gang bangers, and thugs, murderers and rapists.

Unable to prevent passage of common-sense self-defense statutes, they have worked with anti-gun state lawmakers to create these so-called gun-free zones, which include schools and universities, government buildings and various other locales, but also such places a restaurants (remember Luby's cafeteria, 24 dead, anyone?), theaters, parks, sports stadiums, fair grounds and churches, depending upon the jurisdiction.

I prefer to think of them as victim disarmament zones and time and time again this is proved to be all too accurate.

Of all the deplorable tragedies, senseless loss of lives by a deranged shooter(s) or armed criminal in a crowd, how many happened in a gun free zone? That's right. I think ALL of them.

When was the last time you heard of a mass shooting at a gun store or a gun show, both places where firearms outnumber the people, and many of their safe and sane and background checked participants are carrying concealed.
Has anyone ever heard of a massacre at a gun range, where it is guaranteed everyone has a loaded firearm? I go almost every Saturday and it's the safest place I know.

Lord help the knucklehead who ever tries something like that at, say, an NRA convention. Certainly, there was not a hint of trouble at a Gun Rights Policy Conference in Fort Mitchell, Ky., where scores of people acknowledged being armed, many of them carrying handguns openly.

Republican Ron Paul delivered a speech to that crowd and, dare we say, the Texas congressman was far safer in that environment than he is any day of the week in Washington, D.C.

The misguided misanthropes who foster gun-free zones have this as their legacy, so terrified of
armed, law-abiding citizens - especially those who have gone through the hoops of obtaining a concealed carry licenses, a group statistically the least likely to ever break a law.

I carry. I'm a class A shooter, and respectful and mindful of gun safety and it's proper use to protect myself and my family. If I happen to stumble upon a mall or a business that has gun free signage I take a card or a flier that Ohio CC put together that expresses my reasons for taking my money elsewhere. If they wish to build trade on the alter of political correctness they have the right under the current law. they just don't have the right under my hard earned dollars.
