Do people have a 'Right' to self defense?

This thought has been bouncing around the dusty corners of my brain:

Do people have a right to self defense?

If so, do they also have a right to own an effective means of self defense?

I'll save this question for the next time I get brain dead enough to try and debate an anti-rights activist. Should be interesting. This may just be a new tangent that wipes away a lot of arguments and BS.

Do people have a right to breath?
If so, do they have a right to keep their head above water?
