"Whatcha making for lunch Dad"

Dad: "Today, I am making STUFF"
Kid: "Really? ..... MOM! Dad is making STUFF again!"
Mom: "Tell him not to ruin the pan!"

'Stuff' is a Dad code word for 'Experiment'.

Stuff usually turns out good, but it's never too predictable.

Today, stuff turned out to be:

A bed of golden hash browns with fresh ground pepper, upon which has been spooned BBQ beef salsa chili with bacon and red kidney beans.

I got a small plate full.

There is none left.

I guess stuff worked out Ok again.

That's how my infamous buffalo enchiladas were born. Folks over to watch hockey and all I had was "stuff" Tore the meat off the bones of a bunch of leftover wings, added a little extra buffalo sauce, mixed up a container of sourcream/ranch dip with a can of cream of chicken soup. Threw a few chopped green onions in there. Put the chicken in some tortillas, drizzled some sauce over and rolled up. Spooned rest of sauce of top and covered with a bunch of shredded pepper jack. Covered with foil and baked.

"stuff" is good

Ya, 'stuff' is sometimes the best thing going.

Once I get in a kitchen... anyones kitchen... everything is fair game.

Last week at a friends house, we were gathered around the table for an evening discussion and snarkfest, with whatever goodies could be produced. I somehow landed in their kitchen.... Bwahahahaha.....

They had tomatoes growing on the porch.... so I picked ripe romas, ground on some pepper and sprinkled with kosher salt. Then I mixed some gouda cheese with a bit of crushed garlic and paprika, and spread on the tomatoes. A moment under the broiler, then straight to the table.

Simple fare, but fresh has a flavor all it's own.

I guess they tasted Ok. I never got any. They were gone before I could clean the cutting board and knife.
