Picked up Dark Side of the Moon tonight

And the years peeled away as we drove home, Pink Floyd
playing on the vehicle surround sound.

Naturally we were following somebody in the hot rod El Camino
half the way home while listening..... naturally.
I could have been a teenager again, wasting my life away
in my own hot rod Nova with the small block singing
along with the Floyd on cassette.

It was so easy to drift back, under the musics influence....
That is, until my own teenager in the back seat asked if we could
listen to something else. This music was all 'just too weird'
for him.

I wanted 'Echoes' on the Meddle album, but I'm not in love with
the other songs on the disc and I rebel at paying that much
just for one tune even if it is twenty two minutes long.

DSotM will do for now. Our older kids stole our last PF CD's.
I'm kinda glad this one thinks they are too weird.....

When I was 16 I had a VW Bug my Dad bought for me. It wasn't MINE actually. . when I graduated I could buy it from Dad or leave it, but it got me around to college (I went half days instead of high school classes and full time in the summer), and ballet, and orchestra (I played in a Youth symphomy) and piano and Scouts and my volunteer job (you get the picture).

I was pretty excited when he brought it home. It was brand new. . a 1974. BRIGHT Orange. .I guess in case I wanted to drive it into the woods deer hunting)

Only thing was. It had no radio. None!!. I queried Dad. . he said "well I had a choice of that or a locking gas cap and I figured the gas cap would be more valuable" HUH?????. No radio. . In a teenagers car. Is that legal? So my brother and I installed an 8 track player underneath the glove compartment where we listened to Pink Floyd and Yes and Wishbone Ash with our friends and my "guy" friend Jeff . who went on to be the bass player for Dokken.

Vehicles... Touchy subject right now.

Last night middle son wasted the trans in our buick we let him use.

A few weeks ago, Momma took out the trans in her van.

A few weeks before THAT, middle son snapped the ring gear in the truck we gave him.

We are down to one vehicle... MY truck. I am ....concerned.

Boy is laying in the driveway as we speak, tearing down his differential. I really don't care how cold it is. I threatened to have his dog pee on him so he freezes in place under the truck.
