Snarl.
Off to work again.
Another looooong day.
Yesterday I bought a lottery ticket. My buddy asked me why, as he
knows I can do simple math. I replied: "So there's at least a one
in six million chance I'll be happy by the end of the week. That's better
odds than when I woke up".
The kiddies graduate on the 27th. The silly twits down front have us
finishing the years grading on the 16th. That's Friday, friends and neighbors.
That leaves us a week with a class full of teenage boys who understand there
is not one single consequence for their actions, short of anything that involves
calling the police. One of the silly buggers asked me yesterday if attendance will
still count towards grades after Friday. I smiled a beatific smile and answered in a
loud, clear, ringing voice:
"Why, NO my young friend! Attendance does NOT count
towards grades after Friday. You have figured it out! Let me be clear about that..
so there's no confusion... After this Friday, there is NO consequence to missing school! None at all! That means you could very easily miss the daily tests we intend to give and theres not one thing we can or will do about it! I sure hope you don't take advantage of the circumstances and fail to show up for the daily tests that mean nothing towards your grade in any case!"
Blink.
Blink.
Blink.

At the sim center one young airplane pilot candidate complained to my cohort, administering the check that he didn't want to wear the shoulder harnass because it "cut into his shoulder".
That's just begging for someone to "fail his hydraulics". :-)
*sigh*
Yeah, we did this back in April. Grades for graduating seniors had to be in by April 18, but the semester didn't end until the 30th. Guess which demographic missed a hell of a whole lot of class after that?
hehehe...could end up being a quiet week for you after all :-)
