A few images of the day

This time of year we get HUGE swarms of blackbirds. Tens of thousands, streaming past one hundred yards wide in a line to the horizon. When they alight, the field goes black and squirmy for a while, then they explode to the air once more.

The hints of red are the red-wing blackbirds.

Down by the river, hiking a while, I came to an outcropping of rock on the hillside above the water. They just caught my eye.. I had gone down them to reach a river view, and when I turned back I realized the rocks had a spirit of their own.

The rock photos were amazing. Especially that one close up of the cleft in the stone. Beautiful work.

Thank you Lin. (blush)
Now that I found that place, I'll be back soon. I'll lug in a tripod too, because it will be a prime place to watch for eagles. Quite a bit closer than I was before.

How considerate of the rocks to form steps to assist in their climbing. Nature works in our favor when we take the time to notice : )

Reminds me of Nelson's Ledges in Ohio.
