Well, the trap shooters might have the range....

But do they have anything like THIS for lunch? Bet they are having moldy old semi warmed hot dogs. Where as here, in Carteach0 manor, the master has forced the kitchen to give up this....

Slow roasted roast beef with mushroom and cracked pepper gravy, mushrooms sauted in the beef fond, and steamed asparagus. with butter.

If you click the image, it will enlarge, if you can stand it.

Oh dear. That mushroom looks divine. God, I love sauteed mushrooms.

Could you tell me what cut of beef you used, please?

Lovely Breda, that is nothing more than a lowly chuck roast.

I can send you a pick of it fresh out the oven if you like. it was a bear to get right.... I had to pull it, rest it, slice off enough for lunch, then put the rest back in to get it right.

I reduced the pan juices, breaking up the fond, and added a bit of butter. Then I sauted the mushrooms in it. I turned the rest into the gravy you see. Sounds harder than it was.

I have a pic of the mushroom too.... Lol.... food pron

I should mention. There is roast left over. There are no mushrooms left over. Shame.... imagine them turned into an omelet in the morning.... sigh.....

That looks glorious. I can almost taste it.

It's the asparagus that has me trembling with food lust. The store substituted 'gourmet' white for my green which was on sale. Seemed like a good deal but I was so disappointed with that missing flavor I had been looking forward to. Yours look divine!

lin, I can't eat white asparagus. It looks sickly and anemic to me.

lin - - can you grow anything out in the high desert. . greenhouse or something. . so you don't have to rely on provisions from the locals?

lin (I'm going to have to use another name, or folks are going to confuse us. . .)

carteach, hope you don't mind getting caught in cross-chat.

Breda, your instincts were right about the white asparagus - it was as anemic tasting as it looked.

lin - our second nearest neighbor grows divine veggies and plants. It's just me with the brown thumb who can barely even grow mold on bread.
I'm enjoying having 2 lins around - it makes people pay attention to avatar photos. If they don't, I enjoy the resulting chaos anyway.
